Bloomington Programs
The Bloomington Chamber of Commerce offers many programs throughout the year providing:
- Networking
- Professional development
- Education about timely community issues
- Forums with elected officials
In addition to the programs and events members can attend in Bloomington; many more are offered by the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Good Morning Bloomington!
Good Morning Bloomington! is held on the first Thursday of each month. This event starts in September and runs through the month of June. Members can network with one another before and after the presentation from a featured speaker at each event. Though the topic of each meeting changes from month to month, members can be certain that the presentation will offer insight on a multitude of local issues.
Past speakers have included Joseph Opatz, President of Normandale Community College, as well as Dave Mona, Lester Bagley and Eric Bieniemy. Future programs will include a Get Acquainted Breakfast and a new topic for October called “Greening the Workplace,” featuring Kim Brown from QBP as the speaker.
Governmental Forum
Governmental Forum is held four times a year. These forums were created to provide opportunities for members to interact with elected officials at all levels of government.
Topics from the last series of Governmental Forums include Legislative Preview, State of the City and Legislative Wrap Up. The upcoming topic for September 2009 is “Mr. Paulsen goes to Washington” with speaker Congressmen Erik Paulsen.
Past speakers have included Mayor Gene Winstead, Senator John Doll, Senator Geoff Michel, Representative Ann Lenczewski, Representative Paul Rosenthal, and Representative Linda Slocum.
Annual Gala in Bloomington
Each winter the Chamber celebrates with a black-tie event and helps raise funds to support member services and programs. The Annual Gala features a silent and dessert auction, raffle, dinner and entertainment, in a spectacular setting.
Annual Golf Classic in Bloomington
For 36 years, members have enjoyed networking on the greens at the Annual Chamber Golf Classic in Bloomington. Traditionally held at Minnesota Valley Country Club, the event provides members with the opportunity to play a challenging, private course while sponsors use the event to provide exposure for their companies.
WOW Luncheons
WOW Luncheons are held monthly on the second Monday of each month from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Originally known as "Women out Working," these programs feature a speaker who addresses issues important to women in the workforce.
Past topics for these events have included “Extraordinary Women in an Everyday World”, “First Impressions” and “Speed Networking.” These events have entertained many with speakers such as Becky Roloff, CEO of YWCA, Amelia Santaniello, Anchor for WCCO-TV, and Pam Borton, University of Minnesota Women’s Basketball Coach.
