Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota

CARF International announced that Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota has been accredited for a period of three years for its community integration and employment services. The latest accreditation is the twelfth consecutive Three-Year Accreditation that the international rehabilitation accrediting body has awarded to Goodwill/Easter Seals.

Kraus-Anderson® Construction Company

Kraus-Anderson® Construction Company has completed construction of North Country Health Services’ (NCHS) WindSong at WoodsEdge, catered senior living apartments in Bemidji, Minn. Windsong is expected to become the first senior housing facility in the State of Minnesota with LEED status. Kraus-Anderson was also received a MNSHARP (Minnesota Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) award for their safety record during construction of the University of Minnesota’s Amplatz Children’s Hospital. This is the 2nd MNSHARP award for Kraus-Anderson.

Comcast

Comcast has award a grant to the Minneapolis Urban League to help fund Project Ready, an after-school program that helps at-risk youth stay in school and prepare for college. The Comcast funds will specifically support digital and financial literary.

Medtronic Inc

Medtronic Inc. has pledged $1 million through the Medtronic Foundation to support earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. The company’s total contributions could exceed $1.25 million after including product and employee donations.

ING Group

ING Group is trying out a pilot program in the Twin Cities in which its local financial experts will provide free advice to area nonprofits. ING’s goal by the end of the year is to have 40 to 50 of its 900 Minneapolis-based workers helping nonprofits. Initially, about 10 workers will volunteer with Memorial Blood Centers, the Minnesota AIDS Project, Second Harvest Heartland and Simpson Housing Services will be the first three nonprofits to get the help.

Best Buy

Best Buy announced that it will be giving away $1 million to college-bound teens. The company plans on divvying the money out in one-time $1,000 grants to ninth through 12-graders. The company is hosting a scholarship competition on its @15 Web site, which caters to youth active in charitable causes across the nation and Puerto Rico
