Educator Externship
Many career decisions are made in high school, yet often times students are not aware of the employment opportunities and career pathways available to them locally. Employers want to connect with students to help build their future talent pipeline, but struggle to make connections with local schools.
The Chamber’s Educator Externship bridges this divide by connecting employers with classroom teachers and career counselors.
This annual multi-day event offers high school and college faculty the opportunity to visit local businesses and see first-hand what it means to work in that industry. Educators and business leaders are able to engage in detailed conversations about needed skillsets, technical tools, entry-level positions, and career pathways. Educators are then able to take this information back to their students and classrooms and incorporate real-world scenarios into classroom lesson plans.
