Christopher Parrington is a partner in the Minneapolis office of Foley & Mansfield and heads the firm's securities litigation and FINRA arbitration practice group. Working closely with other attorneys in F&M offices across the country, Chris represents broker/dealers, fund managers and registered representatives accused of securities fraud. Chris has also represented broker/dealers, fund managers and registered representatives in defense of investigations and enforcement actions commenced by state and federal financial regulatory divisions.
Chris’ practice also includes litigation and appellate work involving claims of professional liability, contract disputes, shareholder disputes, unfair competition, franchise disputes, non-compete disputes, defamation, trade secret violation, trademark infringement, fraud and misrepresentation.
An experienced trial lawyer who has handled securities cases and commercial disputes nationwide, Chris has tried or arbitrated more than 20 cases in the past five years. He has defended broker/dealers, fund managers and registered representatives in enforcement actions by various state and federal financial regulation divisions and litigation commenced by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Chris has also defended broker/dealers, fund managers and registered representatives nationwide in FINRA arbitrations commenced by investors asserting claims of fraud, misrepresentation, lack of due diligence, breach of fiduciary duties, non-suitability, failure to supervise, violation of state and federal securities statutes and control-person liability. He has also represented broker/dealers, fund managers and registered representatives in disputes over Errors & Omissions and Directors & Officers insurance coverage.
Chris employs an aggressive motion practice, including preliminary requests for injunctive relief, and since the start of his practice, has argued more than 150 preliminary injunctions and preliminary restraining orders in state and federal courts. He has also argued more than 15 cases to the Minnesota Court of Appeals and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, involving a wide variety of issues fundamental to his commercial and securities litigation and arbitration practices.
Chris blogs on litigation-related topics, and is a frequent contributor to industry publications. He also shares his knowledge through continuing education programs and seminars. In January 2007, Christopher was appointed as a member of the DRIVE Emerging Leaders Board for the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce. A member of the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association, he is licensed to practice in Minnesota state courts and the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
